Why we are not
like the other tours...
Simply because we don't give
"tours". If you are looking for something other then an
organized tour, we may be what you are looking for. With us,
you are dealing with the owners from he moment you contact us to
when you leave our premises. No large
groups, employees, schedules or pre-planed agenda imposed on you
regardless if you like it or not. Every morning, we decide
together, with the guests, what will be the day's activity based on
weather, sea conditions, the group's wishes and our suggestions
based on 25 years experience living in the area. In other
words, do the activities which are best for that particular day, and
you would like to do. We offer you
a unique experience while exploring Gwaii Haanas and sharing our lifestyle
at our homestead. Visiting Gwaii Haanas with us, it will rather
be like friends dropping by for a visit.

in a remote corner of Canada's Pacific
West Coast, our area is far
away from cities, roads,
boat traffic and large crowds of tourists.

at its best! Explore

from the knowledge and guidance provided by
our local guides and residents. Our homestead
and guesthouse offer rustic, comfortable accommodations,
wholesome nutritious meals, kayak rental and guided boat excursions
deep within Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site,
Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada.
Our location is only
accessible by boat or floatplane.

in the Haida language, is
an ideal place for sea kayakers, bird watchers, photographers
and nature lovers. The complex and undisturbed ecosystem
supports a large variety of fauna
and wildlife. Without poisonous creatures
to give you a bad day, our temperate rain forest
provides a safe and relaxing environment for all, especially
children. Giant trees, mosses of all shades of green and
seashores exploding with life await you to discover. If you
are looking for an unparalleled experience in a increasingly rare
and pristine wilderness area of our planet, come and discover

As far as you can see, as far as you can paddle: no clear cut areas,
no roads, just you and nature!

 Our guesthouse offers
4 comfortable
rooms in a rustic setting surrounded by old growth forest, ancient
Aboriginal Haida history and the bountiful Pacific ocean . We
provide 3 meals a day served at our table or the outdoor patio
amongst fruit trees and our organic garden.
We also provide lunch to go for our guests who
prefer to go for a picnic or while on our guided boat tours. We accommodate
up to 8 guests while different groups
of people share our guesthouse. We do not cater to other tour
groups so you can be assure of a peaceful and relaxing environment at
all time.
 Our
facilities can also
accommodate groups larger then 8 if required
for larger groups.
Meals are prepared from organic
grown ingredients as much as possible, fresh baked bread, vegetables grown in
our organic garden when available in season and
sea food shared by our family.
Our homestead is
powered with quiet solar energy to blend
into the peaceful natural surroundings.
We are also
available, have a great deal of
experience and perfectly
suited for workshops, retreats, researchers, film crews, friends, groups and family gatherings.
Activities and transportation
Haida
Gwaii / Queen Charlotte Islands can be reached from Vancouver
by passenger plane. Several airlines provide transportation
including Air Canada Jazz to Sandspit and Masset. You can also travel by ship from
Prince Rupert with BC ferries or by floatplane.
We organize
floatplane and boat
transportation to and from our guesthouse in Rose Harbour
and Queen Charlotte City.
We can also organize your floatplane
transportation directly to/from Rose Harbour between Prince Rupert or
Port Hardy (Vancouver Island).
We provide
many other services besides comfortable accommodation and delicious
meals. If you feel bold and adventurous,
we also organize activities such as:
sea kayaking, boat excursions, hiking,
beach combing, snorkelling,
bird watching.
 Our
rigid
hull inflatable guided boat tours
offers excursions
to remote beaches, ancient Haida village sites like Ninstints, bird colonies,
sea lion and Harbour seal rookeries, hot springs and countless scenic
areas, weather permitting. Just let us know
where you want to go and what you wish to see!
No schedule or agenda! Explore the area with confidence with over 25 years experience
at our homestead in the area. Our
website will give you many ideas and suggestions of what to see in the
area.
Our beachfront location gives
easy access to sheltered or open waters for beginner and advanced sea
kayak paddlers alike. Our boat is powered
with tandem (2) efficient and quiet 4 stroke
fuel injection outboard engines for
increased safety, minimum pollution,
noise and impact on wildlife.
Homesteader
hospitality:
We understand
that individuals and groups of people have different
requirements, schedule and budget. This is why
we offer all our services as a "tailor-made" package
so you can choose what you want to do. We can arrange all
your activities catered to your personal requirements and the wishes of
your group.
 Our
activities are organized with your requirements and weather conditions
in mind, not some inflexible schedule like a large group being herd
around in a predetermined tourist circuit. Who wants to be out
there when there is stormy and unsafe weather conditions? Just
kick back and relax at the guesthouse and enjoy peace and quiet by the
wood stove until the weather improves! With us, you can
pick a nice day to explore the area!
We gladly
combine activities between groups residing at our guesthouse
to lower costs of
chartered guided boat
excursions. A holiday with us offers
relaxation, great social meals, friendship, abundant sightseeing and
wildlife encounters.
 With our extensive knowledge of
the area, we always do our best to give you the opportunity to see and
hear the life forces at work in our corner of the Earth. Enjoy
